The maker
Hello, I'm Khaira
A mum of two, working full time, and happily back on the creativity train.
Blushingkay actually began 15 years ago, which definitely ages me. It started as a little blog where I wrote about make up, travel, relationships and the odd how to guide. It was my corner of the internet, a place to share the things I loved and connect with people along the way.
Life moved on the way it tends to. I got married, packed up and moved to Perth, and these days I'm a mum to two boys while working full time. For a good six years there, life was completely full on. Two babies under two, a demanding job, and everything else that comes with running a household. It was beautiful and exhausting in equal measure, and somewhere in the middle of it all, my own creativity took a back seat.
But things have settled now. The boys are growing, life has found its rhythm, and I've happily climbed back onto the creativity train. It feels so good to be making again.
And that is really what Blushingkay is at its heart. A passion project. I create these pieces for the pure joy of it, and my hope is that you feel that very same joy when you wear them. There's something special about a piece of jewellery that means something, and I want every one of mine to carry a little of that.
Each design is inspired by life and the world around me. Every piece is a reflection of who I am and where I'm at in that particular moment, so the collection grows and shifts the way life does. Some days that looks like something soft and delicate, other days something bolder. It all depends on where my heart is.
I know it sounds a little mad to juggle all of this. Family, work, a creative business, and the everyday chaos in between. But if there is one thing I hope you take away from my little story, it's that you really can have it all. It might be messy and it might not always look graceful, but it is absolutely possible.
So between school runs, work and everything life throws our way, I have so many big plans, ideas and dreams for Blushingkay. This is only the beginning, and I'm so glad you're here to be part of it.
With love,
Khaira
